Paingender is a xenogender in which someone's gender causes physical and or mental pain. It can also mean when an individuals gender is affected and influenced by unwilling pain. An example of this second definition is when someone's gender changes from female to gendervoid when experiencing pain, but changes back to female when no longer experiencing pain, or their gender stays the same until experiencing pain again. This pain is accidental, and does not include self harm.

    One who identifies as paingender may refer to themselves as a painboy, paingirl, or pain-nonbinary/painonbinary depending on their gender identity.

    ==History==
