Paingender is a xenogender in which someones gender causes physical and or mental pain. It can also mean when an individuals gender is affected and influenced by unwilling pain. An example of this second definition is when someones gender changes from female to gendervoid when experiencing pain, but changes back to female when no longer experiencing pain, or their gender stays the same until experiencing pain again.
One who identifies as paingender may refer to themselves as a "painboy," "paingirl," or "pain-nonbinary" depending on their gender identity.

The paingender flag was coined by a user going by Arwen on December 19th, 2020. Blue represents sadness which symbolizes mental pain, red is for physical pain, and black symbolizes emptiness.
