Pop or POP is an acronym standing for "people of penises." This is a term for anyone who has a penis, and is made to be less gender based. This term includes cisgender men, some intersex individuals, some non-binary and anonbinary individuals, transgender men who have had sex reassignment surgery, transine women, many transsex/altergender women, and possibly pre-transitioning trans women.

This term is made to combat the ideology that having a penis is what makes one a man, and is made promote gender-neutral language and terms. This term can also stand for "person of (a) penis" if one wishes to refer to another person or themself as a pop. This term was also made for more simplicity in describing genitallia in medical situations, such as sex education, as saying 'male' would leave out many intersex and trans individuals.

A term similar to this is wolffian, however this term is more specific to having every trait of a male, not just a penis, thus leaving out intersex and altersex individuals. One who is wolffian is also a POP, although one who is a POP is not always wolffian.

    History

The term was coined by Cryptocrew on March 13th of 2021 in order to help relieve dysphoria and discomfort in many genderqueer individuals.
