⚫ | '''Ottergender''' is a xenogender used by those who strongly identify with otters, or those who want to incorporate them into their gender. It is intended for use by autistic people, and can be a kingender or a delusogender, but doesn't have to be. It is associated with the sounds of otters squeaking, the feeling of damp / wet fluffy fur, and the twitching of whiskers. |

This is technically a re-coin of the term, since the original creator simply defines the gender as "use however you want" [https://twitter.com/bangers_ntrash/status/1331640024241156096 <nowiki>[1]</nowiki>], which is not a proper definition, thus, not a proper gender. |

Not to be confused with ottegender.
Ottergender is a xenogender used by those who strongly identify with otters, or those who want to incorporate them into their gender. It is intended for use by autistic people, and can be a kingender or a delusogender, but doesn't have to be. It is associated with the sounds of otters squeaking, the feeling of damp / wet fluffy fur, and the twitching of whiskers. This is technically a re-coin of the term, since the original creator simply defines the gender as "use however you want" [1], which is not a proper definition, thus, not a proper gender.
History
The term was re-coined on August 13 of 2021 by the twitter users @kirbapy and @transbede [2]. It's intended to be a re-coin of the same term coined in November 25 of 2020 [3].
Flag
The flag color meanings are as follows:
- Dark brown: Otters in general / as a whole and their influence on gender.
- Brown: Otter-related traits such as squeaking, social behaviors of otters, whiskers, fur, and anything else that might influence the "feeling" of the gender.
- Light brown: Being transgender and/or nonbinary and those communities.
- White: Autism, kin, and/or delusions affecting one's gender, and any other possible influences on this gender.
- Blue: Potential connections to things like the sea, ocean, or rivers and other bodies of water, as well as overall habitat and the life of an otter to the gender. [4]
