    The Nopesexual Flag

Nopesexual (also known as unoriented) is a term that describes a person who identifies with lacking a sexual orientation/sexuality. This is does not fall under any known sexuality umbrella as nopesexual individuals do not, by definition, have a sexuality. They may be uncomfortable with being labeled asexual, and may instead use this label to better fit their experience. Instead of seeing a lack of sexual attraction as a type of sexual orientation, they interpret it to be the absence of a sexual orientation.

This is similar but different to pomosexual orientations (such as novisexual and omniacepomo) because a nopesexual person does not necessarily feel that they do not fit into any labels or deny any labels for themself. Their label is lacking a sexual orientation, but they may use a variety of labels related to sexuality to identify themselves alongside nopesexual.

Nopesexual individuals may fall under the Black Stripe Asexual umbrella if they feel comfortable with the secondary label of asexuality.

    Nopesexual experiences may include:

    • Viewing sexual attraction, sexual libido and sexual desire as one holistic concept for themself.
    • Distaste with over-labelling of their lack of sexual orientation.
    • Discomfort with the idea of having a sexual orientation.
    • Perceiving themselves as not on any sort of sexuality spectrum.
    • Experiencing being 'void' of asexuality or sexuality.
    • Not feeling like they are under the asexual umbrella.
    • Viewing sexuality itself more in terms of actions, emotions and relationships rather than oriented sexual attraction or lack thereof.
    • Experiencing sex-repulsion that is triggered by the concept of having a sexuality.

    Flag

The Nopesexual flag is a six-striped pride flag with colours black (representing a lack of sexual orientation), grey (representing those who may identify as deminopesexual or greynopsexual), white (representing the intersection of other spectrums of identity), purple (representing a connection/similarity to and/or respect for the asexual community), dark grey (representing the 'void' of (a)sexuality) and aqua (representing being separate from the sexuality spectrum).

    History

This term was first coined on the 12th of July 2021 by user Rockblossom on AVEN (The Asexuality and Visibility Network) in a thread[1] to find a term for what is now known as Black Stripe Asexual.
