Non-trinary or non-ternary refers to someone whose gender does not fall strictly within the gender trinary/ternary (man, woman, and neutrois). Anyone who is not always, solely, 100% male, always, solely, 100% female, or always, solely, 100% neutrois can be considered non-trinary. Some non-trinary individuals may identify with one or more of the trinary genders, at least in part.

Non-trinary can be a gender identity on its own, or it can be used as an umbrella term for anyone whose gender is something other than male, female, or neutrois.

The non-trinary flag was made on January 9 2021 by Fandom user Starfruit110. The flag has teal to represent not being solely 100% female (teal being the opposite of pink, the stereotypical feminine colour), orange to represent not being solely 100% male (orange being the opposite of blue, the stereotypical masculine colour), and black to represent not being solely, 100% neutrois (black being the opposite of white, a colour which is commonly used for neutrality).

The first non-trinary flag was designed by Mod Kau via Tumblr blog Beyond-MOGAI-Pride-Flags on 11 June 2018. The second was designed by Mod A-P on the same blog on 16 August 2018, this time without a black stripe, referencing a being absent of a tridimensional trinary that includes agenderness/genderlessness.
