Mikugender, also known as HatsuneMikugender or MikuHatsunegender, is a xenogender under the VOCALOIDgender umbrella with multiple definitions. This gender may or may not be capitalized as Hatsune Miku's name, and it can also be written as 初音ミクgender or ミクgender.

The first definition is a xenogender in which you know that your gender is superior or is the main protagonist of your life. This gender is inspired by Vocaloid’s Hatsune Miku. It could also be used as a kingender for Mikukin individuals.

The second definition is more broad, and is defined as a xenogender which is related to the VOCALOID Hatsune Miku in some way. This may refer to a gender which changes when listening to music featuring Hatsune Miku, a gender which feels validated by Hatsune Miku, or something similar. This gender may also be a feminine-aligned or woman-aligned gender, based on Hatsune Miku's canon gender. It may also be used by individuals who feel that Hatsune Miku is the embodiment of one's gender, or who experience gender envy from Hatsune Miku.

These are simply a few possible explanations of the identity; any gender related to Hatsune Miku can be considered Mikugender.

History

This first definition was coined by either Picsart user enbyso or FANDOM user @ap0lloooooo on January 29, 2021.

The second definition was coined on May 3, 2022, by a user who wishes to remain anonymous.

Flag

The first flag represents Hatsune Miku’s shades of her hair color, as well as her outfit. Its creator, as well as its creation date, is unknown. This flag appears to have been coined for the first definition, but this is unconfirmed.

The second Mikugender flag was designed on May 3, 2022 by the same person who coined the second definition, who wishes to remain anonymous. There is a version of the flag with a music notes symbol, as well as a version without it. The symbol was also created by this anonymous user on May 2, 2022.

The colors of the Mikugender flag were color-picked from an official image of Hatsune Miku. The meanings of the colors are left up to interpretation, and do not have a strict meaning behind them. However, the creator of the flag personally describes the meaning of the stripes (from top to bottom) as follows:

Dark teal: connection to Hatsune Miku
Teal: music
Light blue: leeks
White: inclusivity and validation
Pink: gender euphoria
Light grey: cuteness
Grey: technology
Dark grey: gender envy
