Labelhoarder is a term used to describe individuals who hoard labels due to compulsive hoarding and/or hoarding disorder. It is purposefully vague so that most hoarders are able to use it. A labelhoarder may:

    • have any number of genders/orientations.
    • have an identity that is solid, fluid, fluctuating, a combination, etc.
    • lack gender, fully experience gender, or anything in between.
    • lack attraction, fully experience attraction, or anything in between.
    • hoard labels that fit them, labels that don't fit them, or a mixture of both.
    • need all labels in order to define their identity, identify with each label individually, or a mixture of both.
    • hoard names and pronouns as well, or only labels.
    • hoard labels that are similar, labels that contradict, labels that mean the same thing, etc.
    • have a small hoard, an extremely large hoard, or anywhere in between.
    • be questioning, fully understand their identity, not care about figuring out their identity, etc.

This term is exclusive to those with hoarding disorder, or a form of neurodivergence with compulsive hoarding.

    History

The term was coined by Tumblr user synpa-tee on August 15, 2021. The original flag was created by the same user on the same day.[1]

    Flag

The original labelhoarder flag has twelve stripes: two red stripes, two orange stripes, two yellow stripes, two green stripes, two blue stripes, and two purple stripes. The number of stripes represents label hoards and the fact that labelhoarders often have a large amount of labels. It uses six colors commonly found in pride flags in order to represent a wide range of labels. The use of one dark stripe and one light stripe for each color is meant to represent diversity, contradiction, and/or a wide range of labels.

The current flag was created by Tumblr user synpa-tee on August 20, 2021.[2] The meanings are the same as the original flag; however, there is also an infinity symbol in the center, which is used by the neurodivergent community. The flag is also more complex, which represents the potential complexity of labelhoarder identities.

Four more alternate flags were created by Tumblr user synpa-tee on January 17, 2022.[3] The color meanings are the same as the other flags, but the dark stripes have been removed. In order to represent contradiction, one flag alternates between white stripes and colorful stripes, and another two flags use black and white stripes.
