Hueco is a reclaimed homophobic slur used against men-loving men, transfeminine and gender non-conforming people in Guatemala [1], Chile [2] and possibly other Hispanic countries.

    Origins

The term "hueco" literally translates as "empty, shallow, hollow, superficial" [3] among other terms that indicate a lack of substance. This comes from the stereotype that queer men are usually feminine, and the misogynistic belief that femininity indicates no intelligence or dept within a person.

The feminine equivalent, "hueca", may also be used against sapphic women and transmasculine people. However, it is generally used to describe seemingly unintelligent women as a whole.
