Homoromantic refers to the romantic attraction to the same gender or genders similar to one's own. A homoromantic individual may or may not be sexually attracted to the same/similar gender(s). Homoromantic can be used to refer to men, women, or non-binary individuals. It is considered the opposite of heteroromantic.
The sexual counterpart to homoromantic is homosexual or gay.
History
The earliest known use of homoromantic was in 1985. It has been used commonly among the ace-spec community since, though it is not exclusive to ace-specs, as commonly thought by most.
Flag
The homoromantic flag was coined by Deviantart user Pride-Flags on April 26th of 2016. Red is for life, orange is for healing, yellow is for sunlight, green is for nature, blue is for serenity/harmony, and purple is for spirit. The alternate was coined by FANDOM user DeathByGlamourrrr, on March 28, 2021.
