    Gendersafe flag
    Flag without symbol

Gendersafe describes someone whose gender becomes more prominent and/or intense when near or interacting with someone one feels safe around/have built trust with. For example, someone who is usually 100% male, but feels 150% male (hypergender) when one is interacting with a very trusted/safe-feeling individual, or someone who is usually agender may feel like a demigirl. The term was coined with trauma survivors and those who struggle to feel safe in mind, but can be used by anybody who shares this experience.

Another possible definition for the term is someone whose gender changes when near or interacting with someone one feels safe around/have built trust with. For example, someone who is usually female may feel neutrois when they are interacting with a very trusted/safe-feeling individual.

The distinction between the two definitions can be distinguished with the terms gendersafeflux (first definition) and gendersafefluid (second definition) if needs be.

    History & Coining

The term gendersafe was coined on July 23rd, 2021, by FANDOM user TheNelsonSystem (Discord user thenelsonsystem#0156), specifically Liu from their system.

    Flag

The flag was made on the same day by the same user. The grey shades represent a weaker-feeling or average-feeling gender, the white stripe represents the safety and trust the individual has in somebody, and the yellow shades represent the fluctuation or change in gender experienced when they come into contact with said somebody. The box icon represents the individual's gender opening itself up or revealing its true form to others when safety is felt.
