Genderglimmer or gendershimmer is a xenogender similar to but distinct from genders like sparklegender, glittergender, and shinygender. It is an aesthetigender which feels "shiny", but not in the way that sparkles and glitter are shiny- it feels shiny in a more metaphorical, aesthetic, and deep way. Instead of just feeling glitzy, it invokes aesthetics associated with things like shining hope, radiant mystery, and resplendent eagerness in an infinitely innocent, youthful way. It is a glimmer- of light, love, excitement, breathless merriment tinged with lifelike trickery.
It can be described and visualized in many different ways- as the glimmering rush of excitement of teenage revelry at 3:00 in the morning after sneaking out, as the glimmer of the sun rising and sinking on a ripple-laden lake and the shimmer, as the glint of mystery and hope of a campfire under a midnight sky, as the beckoning of golden coins shining through dusty sunrays, as the shine of those golden coins in candlelight and the joy that comes in mysteryiously wonderful assortments of objects in an antigue, romanticized manner.
Genderglimmer may be used as a gender on its own, or as a modifier to describe qualities of another gender. For example, someone who feels feminine but personified in a genderglimmer way may call themselves a glimmergirl, and others may call themselves glimmerguy, glimmerby, demiglimmer, etc.
History
Genderglimmer was coined on March 22, 2021 by FANDOM/Wikia user Reign of the breadsticcs after being inspired by a post by FANDOM user Spixity describing his gender. They designed the flag a day later.
