Genderflor was coined by an anonymous user on the Tumblr blog beyond-mogai-pride-flags on March 25, 2018<ref>https://beyond-mogai-pride-flags.tumblr.com/post/172259166455/genderflor-a-fluid-gender-that-never-encompasses</ref>.

A green, purple and purple flag was created by the user Obscure-dare on April 5, 2018<ref>https://obscure-dare.tumblr.com/post/172630521816/genderflor-a-fluid-gender-that-never-encompasses</ref>. It was based off the [[genderqueer]] flag. Purple is a feminine but not female color. Green is a masculine but not male color. The bold black lines are from the genderfluid flag, and the thick white line in the middle represents the absence of gender. The thin black lines represent a mysterious/other/”unplaceable” gender.

Admin Kyle from the blog Uncommongenders created an alternate flag based on the [[genderfae]] and [[genderfaun]] flags. The colors are a wide range of colors but do not include blue or pink<ref>https://uncommongenders.tumblr.com/post/173361851127/genderflor-a-fluid-gender-that-never-encompasses</ref>.
