Genderescape, or escapegender, is when one's gender is elusive in nature. Someone who is genderescape can easily understand their gender when they don't think much about it. However, when they try to label their gender, this can cause their gender to be more vague and confusing. The more one thinks about what their gender is or isn't, the less sure they are of their conclusions. People who are genderescape can have a gender, and sometimes they can name the gender, however, the more effort they put into thinking about gender, the more it eludes, or escapes, them. Some genderescape people only struggle with their gender when they think about their gender. Others can struggle when thinking about the genders of others, or gender in general.
Genderescape was made with fluid and fluctuating genders in mind, but can be used by people whose gender is static. Genderescape can also be a type of gender fluidity or fluctuation.
