'''Gender spark''' is a term coined to describe an unexpected, long-lasting and/or intense change in one's gender experience. A spark typically feels like one's connection or relationship with gender temporarily or significantly alternates, rather than the gender itself changing (though there may be cases where one's gender is ''impacted''). The experience itself could only be felt one time, or occasionally, depending on how someone chooses to use the term.

    The gender spark symbol

Gender spark is a term coined to describe an unexpected, long-lasting and/or intense change in one's gender experience. A spark typically feels like one's connection or relationship with gender temporarily or significantly alternates, rather than the gender itself changing. The experience itself could only be felt one time, or occasionally, or even differently, depending on how someone chooses to use the term.

    Clarification information

    • One does not have to describe their experiences with this term. It is there for individuals who feel the term will benefit their identity.
    • Gender sparks do not have to last a specific time in order for it to classify as a spark. That is a personal choice.
    • The experience itself does not count as an LGBTQ+ orientation. Sparks could be felt by anyone, regardless of their identity.

    Differentiation information

    • Different from genderspike: This term does not feature a base gender, nor does it require a base gender in order to be experienced. A woman/fem-aligned individual could experience an intense increase in their connection to womanhood and identify that as a spark. A genderfluid individual could identify as neurtois for longer than expected and classify that as a spark, and so on.
    • Different from sparkgender: Sparkgender is aimed at agender individuals who experience a temporary connection to gender, which then fades back into their original lack of gender. Sparks can be felt in different ways and by different genders - the spark itself is not incorporated into one's gender label.

    History

The term was coined roughly in early 2021. The user which invented the label goes by "QMCR". No page outside the wiki further explains this label.
