The Gemgender flag was created by user CrystalOwl on February 5, 2022. The seven stripes represent the cardinal gems (amethyst, emerald, diamond, ruby, sapphire), in addition to silver and gold. |

The same user also created the Gemgirl and Gemboy flags at the same time. In these flags, the gem-colored stripes (with the exception of diamond) were replaced with colors that were color-picked from photos of pink/blue gems, as those are the colors commonly associated with femininity and masculinity. |
