Folk, or sometimes Folket is the singular form of folks, which is sometimes used as an alternative to the words man and woman for non-binary individuals and others who desire a gender neutral word that is not diminutive such as "enby" and "pal", while not necessarily as formal as "person"^[1].

Etymology

Folket comes form of folks in Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish.^[2]
