Grey represents nickel, silver, and brass, which is what flutes are usually made of. Light silver represents high pitch, as flutes can play up the three octaves higher than the middle octave C (C4). White represents melodies, which is usually what the flute plays. Light orange-gold represents trills and slurs, which are usually associated to flutes. And dark orange-gold represents that flutes can actually play really low too. Flutes can play down to C7, and ones with foot joints can play one note lower than it. |
