Not to be confused with the Eeveelutiongender System.

The Eevee Gender System is a system of non binary memegenders based on an image which often circulates in trans and non binary online communities. The meme depicts Eevee from Pokemon surrounded by the Eeveelutions, who are all nicknamed according to common relatable non binary archetypes. The purpose of this is not to perpetuate stereotypes or to suggest that all non-binary people must belong to one of these categories, but rather for those who do relate to the meme to incorporate it into their gender.

This gender system is different to the Eeveelutiongender System in that these genders feel less connected to the Pokemon universe or the Eeveelutions themselves and more connected to the labels assigned to them in the meme. While they are different, one may wish to identify as genders from both systems. It is important to note that while certain aesthetics are associated with these genders, gender does not equal presentation and one does not have to present in any specific way to identify as these.

    Genders

    • Smol and Confused (Eevee) This gender may be useful for people who are newly exploring their gender and are unsure on the specifics, but know that they are non-binary.
    • Spiky Masc (Jolteon) This gender is masculine in nature and associated with a spiky aesthetic, the nature of which is open to interpretation but could include spiked hair, yellow, electricity, studded clothing and accessories. Though it is commonly associated with being transmasculine, it may be used by anybody.
    • Femmby Mess (Sylveon) This gender is feminine in nature and associated with pastel pinks and blues, ribbons, bows, and cute aesthetics. Many people associate Sylveon with the transgender pride flag, although one does not have to identify as transgender to be a Femmby Mess.
    • Them Fatale (Espeon) This gender may have any alignment but is associated with being a they/them enby. It feels glamorous, unapologetic, and intimidating. It may be associated with or inspired by drag culture, being camp, and traditional queer aesthetics.
    • Forest Enby (Leafeon) This gender may have any alignment. It is associated with an affinity with the earth, nature, or the desire to abandon cisnormative society and be surrounded by gender diverse people taking care of each other in a woodland commune.
    • Aloof Agender (Glaceon) This gender is agenrine in nature and may be associated with being aloof, confident, and sure of yourself. This gender is not aloof in a standoffish way but in an empowering way.
    • Battle Enby (Flareon) This gender may have any alignment, but is associated with fighting for queer and trans liberation, righteous anger, radical ideals, and protecting vulnerable members of your community.
    • Secret Enby (Umbreon) This gender may have any alignment and is for closeted non binary people, discreetly out non binary people, or non binary people who are forced to compromise on their presentation for their own safety.
    • Cool Genderfluid (Vaporeon) This gender may have any alignment and is for anybody who is fluid between multiple genders. It is associated with being a chill and laid back prescence who people feel safe to be themselves around.

    Flags

Fandom user VoxelDraqon designed flags for each gender in the system on August 17, 2021. Each flag is colorpicked from its associated Eeveelution.

    History

The meme itself began to circulate as early as 2019, with Facebook pages such as Good Geminist Garnet popularising it and many people informally using these labels. It is unknown who coined these terms originally, but the gender system and definitions were conceived of by FANDOM user Comradesimba on August 5th 2021.
