Duosex refers to those whose internal sense of gender/sex is both male and female. One may undergo HRT, surgery, etc, to give their body the sex characteristics of both sexes. For AFAB individuals, this may include getting metoidioplasty, but no vaginectomy.

The only requirements to be duosex are to feel both male and female and to have gender dysphoria about not being perceived or not having the body of both binary sexes. Duosex is similar to Bigender, but duosex is a connection to male and female, while bigender is a connection to any two genders and duosex is a term only for dysphoric non-binary people.

Due to this term being coined on r/truNB (a transmedicalist subreddit associated with the denial of the existence and/or validity of non-dysphoric transgender and non-binary individuals), this term is strongly associated with harmful and exclusionist ideology.

Note that this term is claimed by and/or associated with exclusionists, however, it is possible to have a non-harmful identification with this term.
The duosex flag.

Duosex refers to those whose internal sense of gender/sex is both male and female. One may undergo HRT, surgery, etc, to give their body the sex characteristics of both sexes. For AFAB individuals, this may include getting metoidioplasty, but no vaginectomy.

This term is exclusive to those with dysphoria.[1]

Due to this term being coined on r/truNB (a transmedicalist subreddit associated with the denial of the existence and/or validity of non-dysphoric transgender and non-binary individuals), this term is strongly associated with harmful and exclusionist ideology.

History

The term was proposed by Reddit user Chapter-Salty on June 26, 2021.[2] The truNB subreddit was polled, and duosex/nullsex received the most amount of votes.[3]

Flag

The duosex flag was created by Reddit user M3lonKat on August 29, 2021.[4]
