The term was coined by Reddit user Geno1setback on November 16, 2021. The flag was created by the same user on the same day.[1]

The Cyborggender flag has five stripes: two grey stripes, two brownish stripes, and a blue, pink or red stripe depending on what you identify as. Grey symbolizes metal, the brownish symbolizes skin, middle part symbolizes gender (magenta = nonbinary/agender, red = female, blue = male), and the symbol represents a robot.
