Flag Meaning
The cupioromantic flag was proposed by an anonymous Wiki user in the October of 2020. This was done to help distinguish between the cupiosexual flag and the cupioromantic flag, as the flags were the same beforehand. The flag was turned upside down, since the aro flag is upside down compared to the ace flag. Another stripe was also added since the aro flag has one more stripe than the ace flag. The pink was changed to peach as a way to show that the desired relationship type is romantic, rather than sexual.
The cupiosexual flag can also be used as a cupioromantic flag, so long as you change the sexual terminology to romantic terminology. The grey stripe shows that they are a subset of [aromantics]. The purple stripe represents a desire for [romantic] relationships. The white stripe represents a lack of attraction and the pink stripe represents attraction.
Etymology
The prefix cupio- comes from the Latin word, meaning 'desire' or 'to long for'.
