Cupioqueerplatonic is a micro-label on the aqueerplatonic-spectrum (a lack of queerplatonic attraction) and a-spectrum. Cupioqueerplatonic is defined as someone who does not experience queerplatonic attraction but still desires/likes a queerplatonic relationship. Cupioqueerplatonic individuals are typically favorable to queerplatonic experiences and feelings (queerplatonic-favorable) but they do not have to be. Cupioqueerplatonic may also be used by individuals who sometimes feel queerplatonic attraction but still desire a queerplatonic relationship even without attraction, for example, a demiqueerplatonic individual who dates someone before they feel attraction to them, possibly on the assumption that they will develop queerplatonic attraction later on. Another example could be a frayqueerplatonic individual who dates someone after they lose their queerplatonic attraction.

    History

Kalosromantic and kalossexual were both coined by Tumblr user acelyssie on or before June 16, 2014.[1] The names were later changed to cupioromantic and cupiosexual over time. The term cupioqueerplatonic is based off of these, though it is unknown when specifically it was first used.

    Flag

The first flag was created on July 12th, 2019 by Tumblr user thepokedexisgay.[2] It has unknown meanings.

The alternate flag by Fandom user Mothfree were designed in September 2021. The darker pink represents love, the lighter pink represents lack of attraction, the white represents relationships, the lower, mid-pink represents queerplatonic attraction, and the darker purple represents queerplatonic experience.

    Etymology

The prefix cupio- comes from the Latin word cupio, meaning "to desire" or "to long for".
