The closet is a term used for when an individual has not come out (told people about their sexual orientation and/or gender identity). The adjective to describe someone like this is "closeted". For example, if someone had told their friends, but not their parents about their sexuality/identity, they would be "out" to their friends but "closeted" to their parents.
