Bellusromantic is a microlabel on the aromantic spectrum defined as having interest in traditionally romantic things, such as kissing or cuddling, but not feeling romantic attraction, and not wanting a romantic relationship. A bellusromantic individual may enjoy or desire these activities in non-romantic contexts, but does not enjoy them in the context of a romantic relationship.

The sexual counterpart to bellusromantic is bellussexual.

History

Bellusromantic was coined by an anonymous user on or before June 26, 2016, via the pride-color-schemes Tumblr account.^[1]

The original bellusromantic flag was created by an anonymous user on or before June 26, 2016, via the pride-color-schemes Tumblr account.

The most well-known bellusromantic flag was created by Tumblr user pride-color-schemes, June 26th, 2016. The colors were inspired by the original flag.

The alternate flag was designed by Wikia FANDOM user Hypnott on November 15, 2020. The flag is a simplified version of the primary flag.^[2]

Etymology

The prefix "bellus-" comes from the Latin word "bella," meaning "pretty".
