    Azalean is term for QLW, meaning queer loving women, also known as WLQ (women-loving queer), ascribing queer individuals attracted to women or a descriptor for those experiencing queer attraction to women. It's also an unifying term for queer folk whose love of women is stigmatized and discouraged.

    It can be used regardless of one's gender identity or orientation. Some use this definition for the identity sapphic umbrella term.[1]

    Its counterpart is lilacean.

    History

    The term azalean was coined by Tumblr user polyfragmentedchaos on December 26, 2022.[2] The QLW flag was designed by imoga-pride on December 15, 2018.[3]

    The term WLQ was proposed by Tumblr user wedontcareaboutyourbinary June 11, 2018.[4]
