History
The term was coined by Tumblr user system-lgbt on July 25, 2018.[1]
Flag
The aurorian flag was also designed by Tumblr user system-lgbt on July 25, 2018. The grey represents the varying degrees in which individuals can experience gender. Black represents individuals who are genderless. Yellow represents the non-binary nature of those represented by this flag. The top two stripes being different shades of the same color represent the varying levels in which individuals can be/experience this alignment. The color of the top two stripes is based on the colors of the aurora boralis/australis. The symbol on the flag is the symbol for auroras.
