Aplspike, also known as aplatonispike [1], is an a-spec identity defined as someone who usually feels no platonic attraction, but occasionally has rare, sudden, and intense spikes of platonic attraction that can vary from a day to a couple of months before returning to one's normal amount of aplatonicism.
Aplspike can be an orientation on it's own or can be combined with other orientations. For example, one can be aplspike and gay, meaning when one does experience platonic attraction it's only towards people of the same gender.
The sexual counterpart of aplspike is acespike and the romantic counterpart is arospike.
