Alterian is a xenogender from the element system. It is xenine, which refers to identities that don’t conform or relate to any concept like feminine, masculine, or neutral. It is instead something that is related to other concepts, like symbols, nature, shapes, feelings, or anything else that one may feel their element embodies or is connected to. It's symbolically associated with the element of spirit, or quintessence, which reflects the nature of the gender element, since they are both on a different plane than the other elements and operate on different levels. It can be used as an adjective (an alterian being) or a noun (I’m an alteri.) It can be used by alterhumans as well as everyone else.
History
The term alterian and the flag were made on the Tumblr blog Genderelementarchive on December 23rd, 2017[1].
Flag
The flag's colors are purple and white, representing the element of spirit. In the center is a circle - the alchemical symbol for spirit.
