    The term alstrolia was coined by Tumblr user genderstalgia and an anonymous user on January 10th, 2021.[1]

    The name is derived from alstroemerias, a type of flower, which represent friendship, love, strength, and devotion, with yellow alstroemerias specifically symbolizing happiness and energy as well.
