History
Abigender was coined by Tumblr user Neopronouns on June 28, 2020.[1] Bxgender was mentioned as an alternative name; however it had previously been coined by Mod AP through the Tumblr blog, beyond-mogai-pride-flags on November 30, 2019.[2]
Flag
The primary abigender flag was designed by Tumblr user neopronouns June 28, 2020. The flags were based on the panagender flag, the original with a white stripe, and the second with a pale yellow in order to include the yellow from the bigender flag.[1]
Etymology
The prefixes abi- and bia- are mixtures of the prefixes for agender and bigender. Bx- is a derivative of the prefix bi-, replacing the i with an x as if one is crossing out that they're bigender, which is common practice for agender identities. The prefix librabi- is a combination of the prefixes for bigender and libragender, a gender identity that is partially agender and partially another gender.
