The .flowgender flag.

.flowgender is an umbrella term/alignment system term for xenogenders in which one's gender is connected to the Yume Nikki fangame, .flow. .flowgender individuals may feel their gender is connected to one or more characters, an aspect of the game, or the entire game itself.

CW/TW: .flow contains gory/unsettling content some individuals may find disturbing, and some genders here are connected to the unsettling aspects of the game. This page also contains spoilers for the game. Please read at your own risk.

Sabitsugender

Sabitsugender is a xenogender under the .flowgender alignment system in which one's gender is connected to the protagonist/main character of .flow, Sabitsuki. This gender may be a kingender, but it could also feel as if your gender is deteriorating/rusting away. At one point, it may have been healthy or otherwise whole, but for some reason, it began to decay in a very gory manner.

Kaibugender

Kaibugender is a xenogender under the .flowgender alignment system in which one's gender feels connected to the secondary antagonists of .flow, the Kaibutsu. This gender may be a kingender, "-flux"/"-spike" related gender, or a mutogender, but it could also be feeling as if your gender is deteriorating/rusting, and on some occasions, it completely disappears. This gender may also feel antagonistic and gory.

Taijigender

Taijigender is a xenogender under the .flowgender alignment system in which one's gender feels connected to the secondary antagonists' second form, the Red Demons/Fetuses. This gender may be a kingender, but Taijigender-identifying individuals may feel as if their gender has entirely rusted away for any or no reason and is not present, feels gory and dead and cannot be recovered.

Orekogender

Orekogender is a xenogender under the .flowgender alignment system in which one's gender feels connected to a friend of Sabitsuki's, Oreko. This gender may be a kingender, but Orekogender-identifying individuals may feel their gender can be described as slightly rusting away but mostly there. They may also describe it as positive, happy, and innocent but slightly damaged/rusted.

Events

Sabigender (variant 3) can be described as having a gender that used to be deteriorating or rusting away slowly for no apparent reason, but after any change in their life, caused voluntarily or not, their gender quickly healed and came back (although it may or may not have been there in the first place). This gender can also be connected to the ending of .flow.

History

Miraheze user Nullrust coined the .flowgender alignment system on April 13th, 2022.

A man named lolrust created .flow on February 15th, 2009. His website and the game's download can be found in the references section.

Etymology

• The prefix .flow comes from the name of what this gender is based on, .flow's title.
• The prefix "Sabitsu" comes from not only the protagonist, Sabitsuki's, name, but in Japanese, "Sabitsuki" means "covered in rust".
• The prefix "Kaibu" comes from the secondary antagonists' names, the Kaibutsu. "Kaibutsu" means "monster" in Japanese.
• The prefix "Taiji" comes from the names of the secondary antagonists' second forms, the Fetuses/Red Demons. "Taiji" means "fetus" in Japanese.
• The prefix "Oreko" comes from the name of Sabitsuki's friend, Oreko. "Oreko" is derived from the abbreviation of "orenji" (オレンジ, Japanese for orange) and "ko" (子, Japanese for child).
