The -comfic suffix is used for genders that relate to one's comfort object, piece of media, food, concept, or other thing. These are things that are comforting and induce positive emotions that people may specifically seek out when feeling negative emotions, such as a television show, movie, book, character, meal, or game. They are generally used by neurodivergent people, but are not exclusive to them.
History
The suffix and concept were created by Tumblr blog neopronouns on June 5th, 2021.[1] Ey also created a general flag for the suffix and a template for other -comfic term flags, which other term coiners have used as well.
