Wintegender, or wintgender, is a xenogender that is similar to, and can be considered a subset of, blizzgender. They are both cold, snowy, and harsh. However, wintegender can be used as a prefix that encompasses other genders. Instead of blizzgender as a singular identity, wintegender is used in combination or modification with other genders. For example, winteboy would be a gender that is cold, snowy, harsh, and also related to being male or masculine.
History
Wintegender was coined via an anonymous submission to the now-deactivated Tumblr blog mogai-archive on or before August 25, 2014.[1]
Flags
The "base" flag that is used is the blizzgender flag,[2] as wintegender is essentially the identity of blizzgender combined with another gender. Wintegender in itself does not have a flag specifically, since that would just be blizzgender; instead, it has flags for specific identities that are paired with it. The Tumblr blog pride-color-schemes created flags for wintenonbinary, wintefluid, wintegirl, and winteboy on July 25, 2016. However, the blog incorrectly used the prefix "winter" instead of just "winte" or "wint", though it is clear that it is intended to be flags for wintegender identity because of its definition and positioning under blizzgender in the post.[3]
