    The vermil flag.

Vermil describes non-binary people who present in a traditionally masculine way. They do not necessarily have to be masculine aligned or solarian.

Vermil is a term from the pallet system of non-binary gender presentation. It's used to describe non-binary people's gender presentation without having to use the binary language like "masculine" or "woman-aligned". It is similar to the lesbian terms "butch" and "femme". The term was designed to be used along side the galactian alignment system, but can be used by any non-binary person. For example a masculine presenting, feminine aligned nonbinary person could call themself vermil lunarian.

The feminine and androgynous counterparts to vermil are cerul and pewt.

    Flag and Other Symbols

The flag was designed by Tumblr user Elfiot, the coiner of the term[1].

The flag was meant to replicate the solarian flag’s warm colors. It has the alchemical symbol for fire in the center, as fire considered a masculine element.

Other vermil symbols include, the sun, fire, and "masculine" energies.

    Etymology

Vermil is derived from the word vermilion, which is a shade of red.
