    The original undergender flag.
    The re-coined undergender flag.

Undergender is a gamegender and xenogender for people whose gender feels strongly connected to the game, Undertale (including fan created works and AUs). This gender may or may not be a kingender depending on who is using it. Undertale does not gender the protagonist at any point during the story, and this invokes feelings of comfort, safety, or gender euphoria for a lot of people.

This term may be used by anybody who finds it useful, but was coined with a few specific groups in mind, including:

    • Neurodivergent people with a hyperfixation/special interest in Undertale
    • Undertale fictives
    • Undertale fictionkin

Undergender people may have any alignment, but due to the themes of the game, this gender may feel strongly linked to xeninity or monstrous qualities.

The Deltarune equivalent of this term is Deltagender. Undergender can be a gender in itself, or it can be an umbrella term for more specific Undertale related genders, such as, genderhope, genderdream, or character genders.

    History

The term was originally coined by Twitter user shriimpsoda on December 23, 2020, with a flag being created on the same day.[1] It was later coined again by FANDOM user comradesimba on June 29, 2021, with a flag being created on the same day.[2]

    Flag

The original flag has seven stripes: two black stripes, two white stripes, and three purple stripes of various values. No meanings were mentioned by the creator. The recoined flag has six stripes: orange-red, purple, grey, ice blue, blue, and ultramarine. The colors represent the various locations in the underground. Orange-red represents Hotland, purple represents The Ruins, grey represents Asgore's Castle, ice blue represents Snowdin, blue represents The Core, and ultramarine represents Waterfall.
