This typically refers to when one has a specific character or persona that they play the part of, and that character or persona has pronouns which are different from their own. For example, individuals who participate in drag often use or identify with different pronouns depending on whether they are performing or not.
For instance, the individual out of context may use he/him pronouns, but in the context of performance and/or drag, may use she/her pronouns.
