Solo polyamory is an approach to polyamory which emphasizes agency. A solo polyamorous person does not seek to engage in relationships that are tightly couple-centric. They don't generally want or need relationships that look like traditional couples, for example they may not seek to live with a partner(s) or combine finances with their partner(s). They typically want to avoid relationships that tend to mimic monogamous relationships, in terms of high commitment and exclusivity in the relationship. People who identify as solo polyamorous emphasize autonomy, the freedom to choose their own relationships without seeking permission from others, and flexibility in the form their relationships take.
