Sapphic achillean (also known as sapphicchillean, saphilean, sapphilean, sapphillean, sapphichillean, sapphoachillean, saphillean, or sapphillian) is a term for when one considers oneself sapphic and achillean due to being both male or masculine-aligned and female or feminine-aligned (fluidly or simultaneously), and being attracted to men and women. They identify as MLM and WLW, and may also identify as MLW and WLM. A sapphic achillean individual may or may not be also attracted to other genders.

The individual may or may not be abinary, not man, or not woman, for example, as a result of being sapphogender and/or vinciagender.

Similar terms include anfisian, juleric, gaybian, and poudrettian.

Flags and History

The term and flag were created by Tumblr user sapphicchillean on June 29th, 2018.^[1] Light blue represents the fluid relationship between gender and attraction. Dark blue represents MLM and NBLM. Yellow represents non-binary genders and attraction. Light pink represents the softness of gender and attraction. Dark pink represents WLW and WLNB.

The term sapphillean was once posted for a bigender-specific flag combination, requested by anonymous user on Tumblr blog just-a-mogai-blog in July 10th, 2018.^[2]

On April 4th, 2020, the current sapphic achillean flag was created by Reddit user zamonianbolton.^[3] It is a combination of the achillean and sapphic flags.

An alternate version based on this flag was created by Reddit user ohyourearoach on July 29th, 2020.^[4] The light and dark blue stripes are from the achillean flag and represent masculine-aligned individuals loving masculine-aligned individuals, the white stripe represents gender experiences that are fluid and genderqueer, and the light and dark pink stripes are from the sapphic flag and represent feminine-aligned individuals loving feminine-aligned individuals. The symbol in the center is the overlapping flowers of the achillean and sapphic flags.

The purple sapphic achillean flag was created by an anonymous creator on May 8th, 2021. It was created by multiplying the sapphic and achillean flags and erasing the parts of the flower that did not overlay each other.

An alternative flag was created by Reddit user heytherebuddychumpal on May 2nd, 2021.^[5] It was created by using a combination of the carnation and violet as the flower in the middle.

The saphilean flag was submitted to Tumblr blog ask-pride-color-schemes on November 24, 2021 by anonymous.^[6]
