    The sana flag.
    Sana flag with no symbol

Sana (previously known as San) is one of the base metals from the alloy alignment system based on tin. It represents a gender that is, to some degree, unknown, confusing, undefinable, or chaotic. One's gender element isn’t fully or at all known or understood, or it is too complex to pin down. How intense or chaotic it is doesn’t matter. The term was originally described as "questioning" however, questioning implies it to be a temporary state. A sana person does not have to be looking for to understand their gender, it fact their gender may even be unknown by choice. How one expresses or experiences their gender is defined by them. A sana individual can have any alignment or presentation.

    History

Sana was originally coin on December 1, 2018 by Hail, the original owner of the Tumblr blog lgbt-alchemy[1]. At the time it is was called known as san and the plural form was santum. On December 19, 2019 the alloy alignment system was reworked by Tired, the new owner of the blog[2]. In this rework the name of the term was change to sana. It's unknown what the plural form of the new term would be, though presumably santum could still be used.

The flag is based on the color of tin. The symbol used is the symbol for Jupiter, which was historical the alchemical symbol for tin. The name of the term comes from the chemical abbreviation for tin (Sn).
