A riverian individual may be any gender and be attracted to any gender(s). For instance, a transgender individual who is attracted to trans Individuals regardless of gender could be a pansexual riverian, or a transgender man who is attracted to other transgender man-aligned Individuals could be a vincian riverian.
It is an inclusive label for anyone who considers themself transgender, regardless of factors such as dysphoria, presentation, or desire for hormones/surgery. Under no circumstances is it to be used by transmedicalists.
History
The term was coined by FANDOM user Comradesimba on August 9, 2021; however, the concept itself has existed for much longer.
Flag
The flag follows a similar aesthetic format to gender-loving-gender flags, such as sapphic, achillean, and diamoric. The pastel blue, white, and pastel pink stripes pay homage to the transgender flag. The roses in the center are intended to reference the phrase, “Give us our roses while we are still here,” a phrase commonly heard at Transgender Day of Remembrance vigils, which means to celebrate trans existence outside the context of mourning.
Etymology
The name is derived from Sylvia Rivera, a prominent political activist who dedicated her life to campaigning for the rights of transgender and gender diverse Individuals.
