Puyogender is a gamegender relating to the game Puyo Puyo. This can involve either feeling as if a person's gender is related to Puyo Puyo, or incorporating Puyos into a person's gender identity in order to better understand it.
Puyogender can also be described as a gender that "feels squishy, like jello" and "bright and expressive".[1]
History
Puyogender has no confirmed coining date. However, the earliest mention of this term was on the 5th of January, 2021 by Tumblr user begendered-mogai.[2] The term may have been first coined in a since deleted Twitter post.
The term was later coined again on the 25th of July, 2021 by Reddit user u/thebluestbitch. They described puyogender as "a gender that feels squishy, like jello, and bright and expressive. it's not exactly fluid, but it can feel distinctly different based on your mood."
Flags
The first Puyogender flag has no confirmed coiner, meaning, or date. However, it is likely based off of the colours of the different Puyos. It was created before the 5th of January, 2021, where Tumblr user begendered-mogai said they "got [the flag] off of Twitter before the tweet it came from was deleted".[2]
The second Puyogender flag was created by Reddit user u/thebluestbitch on or before the 25th of July, 2021. The colours used were based off of the Puyos in the Puyo Puyo series.[1]
