A Priori Aro or Priori Aromantic refers to an aromantic person who prioritizes their aro-spec orientation over their other orientation(s). This identity does not imply anything else about one’s sexuality or views on the SAM. One may or may not experience sexual attraction. One may or may not be a non-SAM aro or unit aro. One may or may not experience forms of tertiary attraction. All it means is that one prioritizes their aro-spec orientation. It was coined with alloaros in mind, but ace-spec aromantics can also use it if they wish. It can be combined with any aro-spec label(s) (for example: priori demiromantic, priori quoiromantic, priori aroflux, etc).

Priori aro was coined by Tumblr user Allo-aro-alphonse on November 16, 2019.[1] The flag was posted at the same time. The flag's colors are as follows: Dark and light green represent aromantics. The colors were taken from the alloaro flag. Yellow represents happiness and platonic love. Orange represents security in one’s identity. Red represents confidence and subverting expectations. The gray stripe represents the "other orientations" being "grayed out" because they’re secondary to one’s aro-spec identity.[2]
