Paraboyish can be considered a subset of the paragender umbrella. As there are two preexisting genders named boyish (boyish and boyishgender) there are different definitions of paraboyish, also, although this gender identity may appear similar to paraboy those are not the same gender.
The three possible definitions are:
- Someone who feels that they are sort of a boy, not fully a boy, not quite a boy, almost a boy, etc. This definition is based on the boyish term.
- Someone who feels identified by the term boy, but does not identify with a male identity at all. This definition is based on the boyishgender and for indicating the use of this second definition it's recommended to say "paraboyishgender" but this is an optional choice of the person.
- Someone who feels a mix between the terms boyish and boyishgender, for example someone who is almost a boy and also feels identified with the term boy but does not identify with a male identity.
The boyish portion makes up to 51 to 99% of their gender. The other 1 to 49% can be any gender or combination of genders.
The feminine equivalent of paraboyish is paragirlish.
History and Flag
The paraboyish flag was designed the same day the coiner (@CookieCatCH in LGBTA+ Wiki Fandom site) created the term. The flag was based of the colors of the following gender's flags: some alternate versions of the paraboy flag and the boyish flag. The flag was created the 13 of November, 2021.
