People who identify as nyakuzametric may feel their gender is connected to cats, neons, metros, A Hat In Time, and citycore. It is also related to catgender, due to the connection to cats and the cat themes of Nyakuza Metro. The cat symbol on the flag resembles The Empress.

Nyakuzametric was coined by Tumblr user xdumb-bitch-dedf1shx on July 27th, 2021.

The purples and yellow represent both A Hat In Time's colors and the cats inhabiting the metro. The pink, green, cyan, and yellow also represent Pink Paw Station, Green Clean Station, Bluefin Tunnel, Yellow overpass, and the neon lights of the metro.
