Nebulasexual is a sexuality under the quoisexual umbrella where one cannot tell if they experience sexual attraction or not due to neurodivergence and/or intrusive thoughts/urges/images. One who is nebulasexual might want sex or a sexual relationship, but they do not know if they experience attraction. It is similar to nebularomantic but not the same.
The term nebulasexual should only be used by neurodivergent individuals and/or individuals with intrusive thoughts/urges/images.
History
The earliest known mention of nebulasexual was by Tumblr user Epochryphal on August 4th, 2014, who suggested that the intersection of neurodivergence and romantic attraction as seen in nebularomantic could easily be applied to sexual attraction.[1]
Flag
The nebulasexual flag was created by Tumblr user Libragender on February 2nd, 2020. The colors were inspired by those of the Crab Nebula. [2] Another flag was created by Fandom Wiki user Lovenderr sometime in 2020. The flag colors were color-picked from a picture of the Orion Nebula.
Etymology
The prefix nebula- comes from the Latin word nebulous, meaning 'clouded' or 'unclear'.
