Messgender is a gender in which someone has almost no idea of what their gender could be, or keeps finding terms that almost fit, but not quite, causing them to jump from label to label. They can’t tell if their gender is fluid or not, how many genders they have, or if they have a gender at all. They might, however, have a “hint” of gender, and if they do, this gender may be added in place of “gender”, making messfeminine, messmasculine, messneutral, messxenic, etc. This term may also be used as a xenogender to describe individuals who feel like their gender is best represented by a mess.

    History

This term was coined on December 13, 2020, by an anonymous wiki user to describe nir experience.

    Flag

The messgender flag has two shades of brown, a grey, and white. The background of light brown represents confusion, multigenders, and combinations of labels and such. The darker brown is in a wiggly stripe, and represents jumping between labels, and having hints of gender, also fluidity. The grey circle in the middle represents the 'mess' part, also represents confusion, and binary or singular genders. The white X is in the middle of the grey circle, and represents refusion, not fitting into things (labels), and non-binary and/or genders generally considered agender-related. The flag was made by wiki user Adorable almond, on Feb 18, 2021.
