Mesosphenic is a term used to show how close or far one is from the gender binary. Mesosphenic describes someone who considers themselves to be connected and disconnected from the gender binary in equal or near equal proportions. It is the midpoint between being immediately proximal to the gender binary and being completely disconnected from the gender binary. For example, one might be a mesosphenic cutegender, or a mesosphenic enboy.
Other terms in this system are troposphenic, stratosphenic, thermosphenic, and exosphenic.
History
Mesosphenic was coined on December 17, 2019 by Tumblr user Biohazardmogai.[1] The original flag was created at the same time. The term mesosphenic comes from the word mesosphere, the third major layer of Earth's atmosphere. The flag with the cloud was an edit made by Tumblr user hadalpelagic--zone on the same day.[2]
