Mesi Asexual or Mesi Ace refers to someone who is on the asexual spectrum but is not completely/strictly asexual (suptiliasexual). The term includes greyasexuals, demisexuals, lithosexuals, and any other ace-spec people other than pure asexual.
The term is necessary because there is currently no other unambiguous term to refer to mesi aces. The word ace-spec is sometimes used to refer to these people, however ace-spec is a term for the entire spectrum, which by definition includes complete asexual, so the usage is ambiguous and inaccurate. The term greyasexual can also be used to refer to mesi aces, however greyasexual is also an identity in it's own right. Greyasexual is much more commonly used as a specific identity rather then as an umbrella term, which can make it confusing when the umbrella term definition is used. The term mesi ace is a synonym with the umbrella term definition of greyasexual and allows for a completely unambiguous way to talk specifically about people who are ace-spec but not completely asexual.
