    The Intercultu flag

Intercultu is an exclusive gender for intersex individuals who identify as a cultural-specific gender (indigender and/or nial) in a uniquely intersex-way. They may feel as though they are an altered form of their cultural gender, or they may just wish to embrace the intersex part of their identity, despite feeling little to no connection to it.

To be intercultu, one does not have to have been assigned X at birth or unassigned at birth. Instead, they simply have to identify as a cultural gender in some shape or form, regardless of whether or not they have biological neutral or androgynous characteristics.

Someone who is intercultu may have been assigned a cultural gender at birth, depending on if their intersex traits were clear at birth. For example, one may have been assigned as androgynos if they were born with ambiguous genitalia. If this is the case, they may or may not also identify as cisgender, depending on their experiences.

This term was coined as many intersex individuals have a unique experience with cultural genders, due to their sex. This could overlap with being intergender, or another intersex-exclusive gender.

This term falls under the inter-system, where other similar genders and counterparts are listed.
